Just want to get this out of the way: I gave this book 4 stars because there were some minor errors in the book. If you're a stickler for no errors than that might mean something to you. It, personally, didn't pull me out of the story or taint my overall enjoyment but I did notice them.Okay, now onto the fun stuff.
This is a very entertaining story. The characters were intriguing and fun to read. All of them seem well-rounded. I can't think of any that I didn't say to myself, "Oh, they sound like they have a story of their own to tell!" Especially the other Wards that come into the story later on. There were no characters that were there just for looking pretty, being the sex object, the muscle, the hero, the villain. The plot twist was interesting, the motivation for the bad guys is not something seen too often. Also, what I enjoyed about this story was that Jacobs took a genres that could be beaten to death, and made them interesting. The main characters had more troubles, goals and ambitions than just falling into bed because they find one another hawt. I appreciate that.
Now I want to know what else could be done with this series. Will it be the same characters? Focus on side characters we met along the way? The story hinted at ghouls. I'd pay pirate treasure to see ghouls brought into erotica.
All in all, very fun read and I wouldn't mind seeing what else this author comes up with.

This is insane. Succubi are female only. The male form is an incubus. I get it now. The lead character is insane.
It is a very good book with intriguing characters. The story line and plot twists keep you interested and wanting more.
Sexy, a little kinky, with an interesting balance of control and submission. Add to that a great world concept and (always a favourite) a sort of sexy vampirism, and I'm sold. Really well written with great characterisation (and some nasty villains to hate on). Waiting for a sequel!
I haven't read a book by this author before but I will definitely be looking for more in the future. The plot was wonderful with sympathetic characters and great pacing. The sexual tension was very steamy. I really enjoyed this story. Thank you.
Cullinane is a warrior for the Wards, a sort of social services group and a police force for paranormals. Blaed is a succubus whose guardian has stopped reporting in, so the Wards think Blaed has likely become a parasite and will have to be killed. Cull is sent to investigate and kill Blaed if necessary. Instead of finding the evil parasite he is expecting, Blaed seems to be honorable and honest and trying to do the best he can under terrible circumstances. Cull realizes the evil isn't in the succubus but surrouding him. Cull has a past that makes it hard to trust Blaed, and Blaed doesn't trust the warriors of the Wall, so they have a lot to fight through while falling in love. And since Blaed is a creature who lives off of passion, things get very hot between them! I also loved Cat, a young succubus Blaed is fighting to protect. Loved it!
Better than I expected and I legit enjoyed it. I'm not sure if it hit me in the right mood or what.
